Deposits Service
DTC's Deposits Service allows member organizations to use a full range of safekeeping
and processing services offered by the depository for various types
of eligible securities. DTC provides members with several ways of
depositing certificates, either directly to our New York City facility
or through affiliated depository facilities located throughout the
United States.
Who can use the service
All DTC participants are eligible to use the service.
Benefits
DTC's Deposits Service provides an automated system that allows
members to:
- Get same-day credit to positions
- Produce deposit tickets online,
eliminating manual creation
- Track deposits from a PTS terminal
- Deposit restricted securities
- Use Facility Deposits or the Deposits
and Withdrawal at Custodian (DWAC) program if you are located outside
New York City
- Deposit securities for all agents in one place for
up to three years after a reorganization event using the Reorg Deposits
service
- Receive next-day or deferred allocation for reorg deposits,
resulting in the issuance of securities entitlement
In addition, you can:
- Choose the level of service for your legal deposits
- Distinguish, by code, regular deposits from legal deposits and basic
service legal from full service legal
- Use a full service branch
deposits service, allowing your branch to send securities directly
to DTC
- Obtain images of branch deposits
How the service works
After receiving deposit instructions, DTC credits deposits securities
to your general free account.
The Deposit Automation Management
(DAM) system allows you to transmit details of a deposit via a PTS
terminal (using the DAMP function) before forwarding physical securities
to DTC. DTC's Deposits staff reviews and edits this information,
and, with high-value items, notifies you of any problems or other
relevant information involving the securities. The DAMP function
also allows you to consolidate deposits, research the status of
a deposit, and pend a deposit for up to 10 days. For more information
